Monroeville, Pa. - After a morning win, a depleted Charlotte 49ers women's tennis team fell in the afternoon session as seventh-seeded Charlotte fell to second-seeded Temple 4-0 at the Atlantic 10 Championships Friday at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa. The 5-13 Niners will take on URI Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Ana Spivakovsky, coming back from a late-season injury, could not go in singles play, creating a shift in singles play, with Charlotte's players moving up one spot to replace their fallen number-one singles teammate.
The Owls were able to sweep two singles matches and earn the default due to Charlotte's shorthanded lineup after winning the doubles point.
The Niners will play against the sixth-seeded Rhode Island Rams Saturday morning with a chance to get to the fifth-place match on Sunday morning with a win.
