Lindsey Ozimek Named First-Team Lowe's Senior All-American

Ozimek was one of ten finalists for the Lowe's Senior Class award

Dec. 8, 2007

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's soccer senior midfielder Lindsey Ozimek was named one of five first-team Lowe's senior All-Americans based on the cumulative results of the national balloting of Division I coaches, national media and fans. Ozimek was one of ten finalists for the Lowe's Senior Class Award which is the nation's premier award for NCAA senior student-athletes.

Ozimek was just named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American. Ozimek has been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American in each of the last three seasons and has earned first-team honors the past two years.

Ozimek, who has a 4.00 GPA in Special Education, is the second student-athlete in school history to be named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American three times.

This season, Ozimek helped the 49ers tie the school-record with 16 wins en route to the A-10 regular season and tournament titles and the third NCAA Tournament berth in the program's history. She scored the final goal in her career against Clemson in the NCAA Tournament which moved her into a tie for the team lead in goals with six. She became the first recipient of the A-10 Midfielder of the Year award this season after leading the A-10 with 13 assists. Earlier, this year she became the program's all-time leader in career assists and she finished her career with a 43 assists.

Ozimek, who was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 and Atlantic 10 All-Tournament selection, played an integral role in helping the 49ers win 45 games and capture two A-10 regular-season titles and the 2007 A-10 Tournament title during her stellar four-year career.

The Lowe's Senior Class Award is presented annually in eight NCAA Division I sports to a senior student-athlete who has outstanding attributes in four areas: the classroom, community, character and competition. The ten finalists were selected from a list of 20 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete. While the on-the-field performance during their collegiate soccer careers is a factor in determining candidates and the eventual winner, their personal character and off-the-field achievements in the classroom and community are major areas of focus.
