Charlotte 49ers' Zvi Lantsberg Earns NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers men's tennis player Zvi Lantsberg (Beer-Sheva, Israel) has been awarded the prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Lantsberg is the first Charlotte 49ers student-athlete to ever be awarded the scholarship.
Lantsberg is among 59 student-athletes covering 14 spring sports who received a $7,500 scholarship from the NCAA to continue their educational pursuits.
Lantsberg is a three-time first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III At-Large team selection. This past season, he was named the Atlantic 10's Student-Athlete of the Year for men's tennis. He played a major role in helping the 49ers make the program's first-ever appearance in a conference championship match as Charlotte reached the A-10 finals this past April. He finished second on the team with a career-high 17 singles victories mostly at number four singles. Lantsberg finished off his playing career at Charlotte on a high note with seven victories in his final nine matches.
Lantsberg graduated in May with a 3.88 GPA in international business and finance.
In addition to the spring sports recipients, the NCAA awards 116 postgraduate scholarships to student-athletes competing in fall and winter sports for a total of 174 annual postgraduate scholarships.
To qualify for the scholarship, a student-athlete must be in their final year of eligibility and have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport for which they were nominated. Nominees must have at least a 3.20 overall GPA. The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond their undergraduate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
The student-athletes are nominated by the university's faculty athletics representative. The nominees are screened by seven regional selection committees and the award recipients are selected by the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee.
