Niners Men's Tennis Falls to Xavier in A-10 Tournament Semifinals

Monroeville, Pa. - The third-seeded Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team had their title hopes ended at the hands of second-seeded Xavier 4-0 in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament at Club 4 Life Saturday. Charlotte falls to 9-14 on the season, as the Musketeers improve to 12-6 and will take on top-seeded George Washington in the Sunday final.
"Xavier was too tough for us today," said Niners coach Jim Boykin. "We fought hard in doubles, but lost in some close matches. I had hoped we could repeat yesterday's performance by coming back in the singles, but we dropped the first set on every court and could not pull it out. We'll be playing for third tomorrow with some guys who are banged up, but we're going to give it a good run tomorrow."
Charlotte takes on Saint Bonaventure at 11 a.m. for 3rd place in the tournament.
