A former head coach, Rob Perron was hired as Director of Basketball Operations, June 15, 2006, giving head coach Bobby Lutz another heavy dose of experience on his staff. Perron is beginning his second season in 2007-08.
Perron spent the 2005-06 season as an Associate Head Coach at Pfeiffer University. Prior to that, he spent three years (2003-05) as head coach at his alma mater, St. Andrews College.
A 1996 graduate of St. Andrews, Perron also served as an assistant coach at Pfeiffer for three seasons (2000-02) and at St. Andrews for two seasons (1997-99). During his four total years at Pfeiffer, they amassed an 81-37 record. St. Andrews was 53-31 with Perron on staff.
"Rob is an excellent addition to our staff having had head coaching experience for three years in addition to many years as an assistant," Lutz said. "With his organizational skills and experience working with a budget, he will certainly be able to handle the administrative duties and make our staff work that much more efficiently. We're lucky to have him."
A team captain and team MVP at St. Andrews, Perron scored over 1,100 points with over 700 rebounds in his four-year playing career that included two years at Normandale Community College in Minnesota.
"I understand Bobby's vision and I think I can help Charlotte sustain success in a very good Atlantic 10 Conference," said Perron, who has coached five all-Americans.
Perron and his wife Stephanie have two children: Carter (3) and Stella (1).
