Bronx, N.Y. - Charlotte senior Luke Stahl struck out a career-high eight batters as the 49ers won an Atlantic 10 road baseball series at Fordham with a 10-2 win on Sunday at Houlihan Field. Charlotte is now 34-13, 14-7 in league play. Charlotte is now in a three-way tie for first in the league with Xavier and Duquesne. The Rams fall to 26-21-1 overall and 10-11 in the A-10.
Redshirt freshman Cory Tilton and third baseman Aaron Bray each had three RBI as Charlotte built up a 10-0 lead until the seventh, when Fordham scratched a pair of runs for the final margin.
Stahl tossed seven innings, scattering six hits and one walk, and improved to 3-1.
Fordham starter Jake Rabinowitz lasted four innings, giving up three hits and two walks. Two of the four runs charged to him were earned, and he took the loss (3-2).
O'Brien Taylor had three of Charlotte's 12 hits.
Charlotte will have most of the week off before hosting Richmond in a series starting Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.
