Jennifer Adeva is entering her second season on the 49ers' staff after moving to Charlotte in July 2004. Her responsibilities with the team include on-court training, local & national recruiting, marketing and scouting.
Coach Adeva made her return to coaching on the club level last season after a five-year absence. She was in charge of the Carolina Juniors "Slam" team, a 17-and-under national-level squad that captured ninth in the National Division last year. Her team posted seven first-place finishes in 2004-05, including championships at the Asics Nationals in Chicago, the East Coast Championships at Penn State, and the Asics Big South Qualifier in Atlanta.
Prior to her arrival in the Queen City, Adeva spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Tennessee State. In 2002, the team won 13 matches, the most wins in the program's history. Before leaving the Tigers, she served as interim head coach, overseeing all areas of the team. As an assistant she helped with recruiting, practice and match preparation. She also oversaw team travel, player academics, conditioning and fundraising.
Adeva got her coaching start in the collegiate ranks at Santa Ana College in Santa Ana, Calif., spending one season as an assistant coach (1998). The following season, she was promoted to head coach. She remained in that role one more season before moving on to join the staff at Nicholls State, where she served as an assistant coach, assisting in all aspects of the program.
Before joining the staff at Santa Ana, she spent seven years coaching at the club level throughout Southern California.
"I am thrilled to have Jennifer on our coaching staff," head coach Lisa Marston said. "She has a strong volleyball background and a lot of coaching experience. She is serious about volleyball as a career and will be an asset to our program."
A 1997 graduate of Cal State Fullerton, Adeva received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and went on to earn a master's in education from Azusa Pacific in 1999. She played volleyball for two seasons with the Titans, and was a National Strength and Conditioning All-American as a senior. She played her first two seasons at College of the Canyons in Valencia, Calif., where she was a two-time All-Western Conference selection. Adeva was also a AAA-ranked beach volleyball player in the California Beach Volleyball Association from 1997-2000.
