Hill Named Men's Performer and Rookie of the Week

April 14, 2008

Charlotte, N.C. - For the second time this season, the Charlotte 49ers swept the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field weekly awards, league officials announced Monday. Freshman Reggie Hill (Midlothian, Va./Manchester HS) took both the Men's Performer and Rookie of the Week nods, while senior Courtney Patterson (Fayetteville, N.C./Jack Britt HS) and freshman Lindsey Pate (Mills River, N.C./West Henderson HS) were named Women's Performer and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Hill, who marks the second 49er to sweep the men's weekly awards this season after Darius Law did so two weeks ago, increased his league-leading time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.50 at the Sea Ray Relays Saturday at the University of Tennessee. He also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to a conference-best mark of 3:12.78.

All-American Patterson won the 100-meter dash at the Sea Ray Relays with an NCAA Regional qualifying time of 11.47, tying teammate Lamarra Currie for the for the conference lead. She also turned in a 23.96 in the 200-meter dash and was a member of the second-place 4x100-meter relay team, (45.24)--both performances good for regional qualifiers.

Pate turned in a mark of 145-1 in the discuss throw at the Sea Ray Relays, just inches off the all-time program-leading distance set earlier this year, which is also an ECAC-qualifying mark.

Hill, Patterson and Pate will join the rest of the 49ers as they compete at four separate meets this weekend, with athletes traveling to Davidson, N.C. A&T, Princeton and the Mt. SAC Relays.
