Ryan Jank Named Atlantic 10 Men's Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year

Lamarra Currie and LaJarsha Moses Named to All-Academic Team

Charlotte, N.C. - After posting a 3.806 cumulative grade-point average, junior distance runner Ryan Jank, a Business major, was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year, officials announced today. Jank finished second in the 5,000m run (14:33.98) and captured fourth in the 3,000m run (8:31.06) at the 2008 A-10 Indoor Championships. He also placed ninth overall in the 5,000m run at the Penn State National Open in late January with a time of 14:50.72.

Fellow 49ers junior Lamarra Currie and senior Lajarsha Moses were named to the Women's Indoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference team. Currie, who was named to the All-Conference first team took the 2008 A-10 titles with a 6.92 55m and a 24.88 200m, has maintained a perfect 4.0 in her psychology major. Moses has posted a 3.578 in her nursing major and took second in both the 55m dash and 200m dash at the conference championship.

Senior Rachel Papin of La Salle, the 2008 Most Outstanding Indoor Track Performer, was named Student-Athlete of the Year on the women's side. Papin is joined on the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Indoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference team by teammate Carolyn Lipovsky; Dayton's Sarah Allen, Stacy Chew and Megan Sweeney; Brittany Bakanowsky and Christina DeRosa of Massachusetts; Laura Coyer and Laura Hamilton of Saint Louis; Brittney McRae of Temple; Saint Joseph's Andrea Florida; Samantha Howard of Duquesne; and Rhode Island's Stephanie Gregory.

Joining Jank on the 2008 Atlantic 10 Men's Indoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference team are David Alfano and Andrew Wagoner of La Salle; Rhode Island's Brian Alexander, Thomas Barek, Michael Bernardo and Stephen Mateka; Matt Alexander, Austin Critchlow and David Whelan of Saint Louis; Massachusetts Nathan Barksdale, Ryan Durkin and Ian Hackney; and teammates Clifton Hilario and Matt Lowenthal of Fordham.
