  • Since 1990, LaSalle's Lionel Simmons (1990), Massachusetts' Marcus Camby (1996), Xavier's David West (2003) and Saint Joseph's Jameer Nelson (2004) have been named Division I National Men's Basketball Player of the Year.

  • Briana Scurry, starting goalkeeper on the gold-medal winning U.S. Olympic Women's Soccer Teams in 1996 and 2004 and the 1999 World Cup Champs, played collegiately at UMass.

  • Over the last 10 years, the Atlantic 10 has produced six Elite Eight NCAA men's basketball teams, including 1996 Final Four participant UMass.

  • Temple Women's basketball coach Dawn Staley carried the American Flag at the Athens Olympics.

  • In 2003-04, the A-10 sent two teams (Saint Joseph's and Xavier) to the NCAA Elite Eight in men's basketball. Saint Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli was named National Coach of the Year.

  • Since 2000, nine A-10 schools have made 20 trips (3.3 per year) to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

  • The A-10 got a little stronger in men's basketball in June, when George Washington's Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Mike Hall and La Salle's Steven Smith withdrew their names from the NBA Draft.

  • UMass softball has advanced to the Women's College World Series three times since 1992 behind the likes of 1999 National Player of the Year Danielle Henderson.

  • La Salle has had three National Basketball Players of the Year (Tom Gola, 1954; Michael Brooks, 1980 and Lionel Simmons, 1990). Only Duke, Georgia Tech and UCLA have more.

  • Fordham's Rose Hill Gymnasium (3,470) is the oldest Div. I gym in the country. It opened Jan. 16, 1925.

  • Saint Louis has won 10 NCAA Men's Soccer Championships and been to 42 of the sport's 46 NCAA Tournaments.

  • Duquesne's first recorded black athlete, Cumberland Posey (a.k.a. Charles Cumbert) went on to found and manage the fabled Homestead Grays of the Negro Baseball League.

  • Temple's Mark Macon was named National Freshman of the Year and John Chaney was named National Coach of the Year in 1988 after the Owls became the first A-10 team to be ranked #1 in the country.

  • A-10 schools have produced several National Freshmen of the Year, including Macon (1988), Larry Hughes, SLU (1999), Rodney White, Charlotte (2001) and Jameer Nelson, Saint Joseph's (2001).

  • Temple head men's basketball coach John Chaney was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
