Charlotte third baseman Aaron Bray stole home to break open a four-all tie in the sixth inning and the 49ers added five more unanswered runs in a 10-4 Atlantic 10 Conference baseball victory Saturday afternoon to complete the weekend sweep at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. Charlotte clinched a spot in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and remains in first place in the league at 17-7, with 37 overall wins in 50 games this year (37-13). Read Full Release

Winning their fourth consecutive title and NCAA Tournament automatic bid, the top-seeded Massachusetts Minutewomen (39-11) shutout the Charlotte 49ers (35-30) 3-0 Saturday afternoon in the final day of action at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship at Charlotte's Phillips Softball Complex. Charlotte, the third seed, advanced to the championship game after rallying past fourth-seeded Fordham (36-30) 2-1 in the rescheduled ninth game of the tournament. Read Full Release

The Charlotte 49ers won their second straight comeback win with runs in the seventh and eighth innings to defeat Richmond 8-7 for the second straight night Friday at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. A pair of lightning delays held the game off for two hours, as the final out was recorded at 11:20 p.m. Charlotte keeps its Atlantic 10 Conference lead with a 16-7 mark, 36-13 overall. Despite a trading two runs in the eighth inning, the third-seeded Charlotte 49ers (34-30) fell to top seed No. 20 Massachusetts (38-11) 5-4 in nine innings Friday afternoon in day three of Atlantic 10 Tournament action at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex. Charlotte stayed in the running with the Minutewomen through the bottom of the ninth when Massachusetts scored on an RBI single to centerfield. Read Full Release

Corey Nagy, Golf: The sophomore was the individual runner-up at the A-10 Championships, leading the 49ers to their third straight crown with a 10-under par 206.
Darius Law, Men's Track: The freshman won both the 200 and 400 meter races to be named the Most Outstanding Men's Track Performer and Most Outstanding Rookie as Charlotte place 2nd at the A-10 Championships.
Ebonie Cunningham, Women's Track: Took first-place in the 400 meter race to earn Most Outstanding Rookie honors and help Charlotte claim its third straight title.

Performances to Watch:
The 49ers host the 2008 Atlantic 10 Softball Tournament Wednesday-Saturday at the D.L. Phillips Softball Complex, with Charlotte's first game scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday against Saint Louis.
Softball's junior second baseman Sarah Malene, who was named All-Atlantic 10 for the third straight season this week, recently set a new school single-season runs scored record with her 43rd run of the season. Here is a list of the 49ers top ten single-season runs scorers.
